Skincare is often overlooked in men’s grooming routines, yet it’s essential for maintaining healthy, vibrant skin. Investing in proper skincare isn’t about vanity—it’s about skin health and wellbeing. As Youtime’s authorized skin therapist, I’m here to share my best tips for achieving healthy, glowing skin.
Men’s skin differs from women’s in several key ways. It’s typically about 25 % thicker, contains more collagen, and produces more sebum. This makes it naturally stronger — but also more prone to congestion, shine, and irritation, especially if you shave regularly.
Daily shaving can disrupt the skin barrier, leading to dryness or redness, while excess oil can cause blocked pores or uneven texture. Understanding these differences is the first step to taking proper care of your skin.
“Men’s skin is both resilient and sensitive — it can handle a lot, but benefits greatly from the right kind of support.”
I often hear men say they don’t need skincare or that it feels complicated — but in reality, it’s simple and effective self-care. A few minutes, morning and night, can help to:
- Calm irritation after shavings
- Maintain hydration and barrier strength
- Reduce breakouts and dullness
- Prevent early signs of aging
You don’t need ten products or complicated steps — just a few right ones, used consistently.

Cleanse morning and evening to remove sweat, oil, and impurities without drying the skin.
A lightweight gel that deep cleanses pores while keeping the skin soft, balanced, and comfortable.
Hydration helps protect the skin barrier and soothes post-shave sensitivity.
A moisturising serum enriched with vitamin B5 and hyaluronic acid. Nourishes and moisturises the skin, leaving it soft and supple. The serum can be used in combination with face cream or alone as an oil-free moisturiser.
Finish your morning routine with SPF — every day, all year round.
A SPF 50 high-protection daily moisturising sunscreen that won’t leave a white cast and works perfectly with facial hair.
Once your daily basics are in place, you can add one or two targeted products a few times a week for even better results.
Exfoliation – The Goop Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator combines micro-minerals with glycolic acid to smooth and brighten the skin. Often called a “facial in a jar.”
Eye Care – The Goop 3x Retinol Eye Lift Serum renews and energises the delicate under-eye area. Apply in the evening every third day.
Moisture Upgrade – The Goop All-in-One Nourishing Face Cream is a rich, replenishing moisturiser that delivers deep hydration and supports the skin’s natural barrier — perfect for use day or night, or whenever your skin needs extra nourishment.
For those ready to invest a little more in their skin, LED therapy is an incredible upgrade. The Men’s LED Mask from Omnilux uses near-infrared light (1072 nm) designed specifically for thicker, hair-bearing skin. It helps to support collagen and elastin production, calm irritation, and improve tone and elasticity.
“Just ten minutes every other day can make a real difference — it’s one of my favourite ways to boost skin vitality at home.”
Based on the world’s leading Omnilux Medical light therapy technology, Omnilux Men is an FDA-cleared flexible, portable, affordable home use device that uses medical-grade light emitting diodes (LEDs) to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improve overall skin tone, firmness, and skin health.
What’s the difference between this and all other LED masks? This mask is adapted for coarser skin with hair growth; men have up to 25% thicker skin than women. The strength of the wavelengths in this mask is adjusted to work at the right depth. To be exact, it’s (1072 nanometres) near-infrared light that works on everything from dry skin to shaving irritation, signs of fatigue such as dark circles or less supple skin, as red light helps stimulate elastin and collagen production in the skin.
For a deeper reset, I recommend starting with one of our professional facials at Youtime — both tailored specifically to men’s skin.
Mini Glow (35 min) – A shorter, results-driven facial that restores hydration and radiance.
Detox Facial (60 min) – A complete deep-cleansing treatment including exfoliation, steam, pore extraction, LED therapy, and a relaxing foot massage with warm towels.
